“One of the great things about photography is just wandering and exploring a place with your camera. It’s about life and about just being here, being present, enjoying your time in the world,” says Steve McCurry. He feels there’s “some kind of connection can happen between the photographer and the subject”. There is a different story behind every portrait. It is emotional and relatable, even magical.
“In my opinion- a photographer is a monk. He is alone- a monk means mono- one, alone and in meetings others alike, we are united in monsastery.” Like his words, Gueorgui Pinkhassov’s images are also poetry- capturing the magic of accidental moments and the visual complexity of life. In this video, we went to his village to follow his journey photographing with HUAWEI P30 Pro.
"I think it’s important if you take a picture with a phone or a camera to tell small stories that are close to you,” says Bieke Deporter, one of the final-round jury member of HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards 2019. She is a Magnum Photographer- who enjoys to use the low light function of HUAWEI P30 Pro to capture interesting stories of people at night.
“Photography isn’t really about recreating what you see, it’s about making something different,” says Erik Madigan Heck, one of the final-round jury member of HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards 2019. As part of its NEXT-IMAGE Plan, dedicated to mobile photography, Huawei has introduced its first “Talks” at Jeu de Paume Museum in Paris, with the participation of Magnum photographers Antoine d'Agata and Diana Markosian.
HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards 2018 invited Alec Soth, photographer of Magnum Photos, to be the final-round jury member, who took photos with HUAWEI P20 Pro in his home town and shared his story.
HUAWEI Smartphones invited the world-renowned photographer from Magnum Photos, Alex Webb, as a member of the final round jury of 2017 HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards. He was invited to participate into the Masterclass and took photos on streets of Shanghai for three days.
